We learned about textures with visual artist Leah Gold. We visited Leah at her Chinatown studio and learned about textures through using different inks and drawing tools. Leah will turn our work into some sort of creature.

African Percusionist: Njacko Backo
We had a great time learning about percussion instruments with Njacko Backo at the Yorkville Library. We also learned about Africa and its geography and customs through his amazing storytelling.
Stylophone
We took turns learning about and exploring the stylophone. We enjoyed it a lot. It was amazing that we were all able to patiently take turns with it. Music is fuuuuuuun!
Song Writing w/ Daniel Lee
The Wolfies had a great time writing songs with local musician Daniel Lee. They recorded the song too, which will be posted soon. It got them excited to write more! Unfortunately, we couldn't get the photo to rotate, but the Wolfies' lyrics are below. We will be writing and recording more songs this year too.

New Year So Far
We made dumplings ....which they loved doing! We painted our clay baskets, painted a graffiti wall and went skating. We've been doing some rhythm exercises and dance, as well as listening to different music and talking about what country it is from and what instruments they hear.
We've had lots of good talks about consensus, problem solving and critical thinking about gender and inclusion. We had some really good independent, imaginative group play this week all together.
Yoga at Downward Dog has been great too!
We're excited to be songwriting and recording the next two Monday's.
